Hi this is Larry, and I got the idea for Ukkarimura (TofuUSA.com) as a flexitarian looking for non-meat sources of protein while living in Japan. Everyday eating the same squishy tofu or Natto got tiring and that is when I was introduced to Koya Tofu (Freeze dried Tofu). After a spongy and tough first-time disaster trying to prepare it my Japanese friends set me straight on how to prepare it properly and a new world of taste opened up. (Check Recipe page) Soon I was adding it to curries, stews, and soups as a high protein meat substitute as well as learning to make standalone dishes.
Having 4 family members who are vegetarian and a family history of diabetes I thought this great source of protein that’s low in carbohydrates should be more easily available in the USA. That’s why I worked with my co-workers to export Koya Tofu to the USA and Ukkarimura (TofuUSA.com) was born.

I am a partner in a small company called ST Global Inc that started in Japan in 2004 creating and selling sporting / lifestyle / health & beauty products. Future
Right now our Tofu in only available on the internet but we are planning to offer our Koya Tofu at health minded supermarkets soon. While we think our products represent a great value we know that it could be better. Much of the cost of bringing Koya Tofu to the USA is in logistics. Our hope is to eventually move production to the USA making our products even a better value when compared to other meat substitutes.
